I always had bad balance and headaches but, it wasn’t until August 2021 when I got a concussion that ultimately saved my life. I had severed my olfactory nerves from the concussion causing me to lose my taste and smell. My doctor refused to order an MRI. I begged. I finally got one that November and there I was diagnosed. I was told I needed surgery immediately. It wasn’t until March of 2022 when I got my angiogram that I learned I had a brain bleed at some point and an aneurysm along with the AVM. I had surgery on May 12, 2022 and so far, I’m doing really well. I’m so grateful for the amazing surgical team and my at home support.
Connecting with JNF has really benefitted me because I have learned so much from others within the community and I have been able to help educate others. I have truly enjoyed learning more.
My words of hope and advice to other survivors is to never stop living your life! Enjoy every moment!
