WHY? WHY? WHY?

The days of recieving a phone call from someone who has experienced a brain aneurysm or has had a friend/family member suffer from one are becoming far too common.  Just this past week, I have been contacted more than a handful of times from families who’s lives have been turned upside down as a result of a brain aneurysm.  Just two days ago, I received a call that a very good friend’s mother was in ICU from a sudden and undiagnosed brain aneurysm.   My first question is WHY?  Why does this silent killer continue to strike?  Why are more and more people falling victim to these enemies?  Why hasn’t there been more done to detect them early?  My list of questions could go on and on, but one thing is for sure – the need for funding and support is critical!   Through The Joe Niekro Foundation’s continuous efforts, I firmly believe that we WILL make a significant difference.  It will take some time and alot of funding, but it WILL happen!  This foundation, as many of you already know, is my passion – it is my purpose and I will do everything and anything I can to see to it that lives are saved and the public is aware of the symptoms and factors related to these ugly and malicious killers.   All I ask is for you to join me in this fight – help spread the word to others on the importance of early detection, share the foundation website with others and continue to let people know that aneurysms can be treated – you just need to know that you have one….so don’t wait until its too late – take care of it now.  Get Lucky and Get Scanned.  This is one of the new national awareness initiatives of The Joe Niekro Foundation and hopefully one day soon, we will see people all over the country Getting Lucky because they found an aneurysm early!  Do you Wanna Get Lucky? – its easy, Get Scanned!

Thank you for your support, prayers and belief in this foundation – I promise you that we won’t stop educating, funding and living for our purpose!  The Joe Niekro Foundation is here to help!

To highlight our impact and convey our mission with clarity, we are excited to announce that the Joe Niekro Foundation is now the Niekro Aneurysm and AVM Foundation. We look forward to building on the Niekro legacy and continuing our mission!
