Logan – AVM Survivor

I was a migraine sufferer while undergoing concussion rehabilitation from a football hit, I took my freshman year of high school. My headaches were not going away and progressively worsened. I went to many specialists to figure out why I was still having headaches. It wasn’t until months later a doctor from the sports rehabilitation facility requested I have an MRI to rule out cancer or anything serious. They did not find cancer but a 4 cm AVM in my occipital lobe. We soon met with surgeons from NYU Hospital to discuss Gamma Knife treatment or possible surgery. It was concluded that a craniotomy could be successful in removing the AVM due to its location. There was a possibility of losing some vision but worth the risk. The surgery was in July 2024 and the AVM was successfully removed without impacting my vision long term. I am currently a Junior in high school and looking to play football again my Senior year.

I discovered The Niekro Foundation looking for support and ideas for a fundraiser to raise awareness on AVMs. I started my own fundraiser through GotSneakers and am collecting gently worn, used, and new sneakers to raise money for the Foundation. Logan Coleridge Fund Flyer

I was fortunate to catch my AVM before it ruptured and was able to have a successful surgery to remove it. Although it took me a while to figure out what was causing my migraines, I had faith in myself, my parents, and my doctors to get me on my way to recovery as best I can.
